A former bank branch on a high-visibility Main Street property will soon be re-occupied by folks from the same company that vacated the building about two years ago.
MountainOne has hired Moresi & Associates to manage the property once known as a branch of Hoosac Bank at 296 Main St.
MountainOne consolidated much of its operations in 2013, and as a part of that consolidation, the branch was closed and put on the market. Several parties expressed interest — including the town in seeking a location for its police headquarters — but nothing substantive came of it, noted Robert Fraser, president and CEO of MountainOne.
Crews are in the building now renovating part of the building to serve as offices for True North Financial and Coakley, Pierpan, Dolan & Collins. Both are subsidiaries of MountainOne, and both were once housed there, along with the bank branch.
When the branch closed, Fraser noted, True North and Coakley were relocated to the Williamstown Savings Bank location at 795 Main St., also owned by MountainOne.
"We couldn't get signage reflecting their location (at Williamstown Savings Bank), and we needed more visibility for them," Fraser said. "So we decided we could relocate them to the former bank where they'll have great visibility, and then lease out the other part of the building."
And through the installation of a new "smart" automatic teller machine where the old one used to be, MountainOne customers will still be able to do their banking there.
